But first, we need to know what polygons are: polygons are figures made up of several straight segments joined together.
Polygonal figures can be classified as open or closed.
- A polygonal figure is open when the segments do not all connect at both ends. That is, if we draw a line starting at one point and finish drawing it at a different point.
This is an example of an open polygonal figure :
- A polygonal figure is closed when its segments connect at both ends. That is, you start to draw the line at a point and finish at the same point.
This is an example of a closed polygonal figure:
