Maths with the Smartick Method

maths

Today we’re going to meet Zoe, who describes her blog as the tale of a 31 year old geek stumbling through the weird and wonderful world of motherhood. To most of us, I’m sure, her blog seems to be a very accurate description of “the life of a mother”. And as mothers, maths is one of the subjects that we tend to be more concerned about when it comes to our children’s education.

Zoe has 2 precious girls, Georgie (6) and Lydia (4). They’ve been practising maths with Smartick for the past few months and thoroughly enjoying it! Zoe has written her first review about the programme.

She explains the basic idea behind the daily Smartick sessions, mainly that the child dedicates 15 minutes each day to practising maths exercises, and that the sessions adapt to each child’s knowledge level.

In order to make Smartick as accessible as possible, the maths session can be done via web browser (PC or tablet) or through our App (Android Tablets and iPad).

Zoe also talks about the motivational side of the programme, such as the Virtual World, among other features. She explains how the girls are encouraged to work hard on their maths every day, so they can earn what they call “star-ticks”. The more they earn, the more options they will have when they spend them at the virtual shop.

This has proved to be a great reward system”

We were delighted to find out that 6 year old Georgina, who has always enjoyed numbers, is doing even better at school thanks to her experience with Smartick. She’s even going to be able to skip summer homework because she’s already completed, on her own, the maths problems that her teachers wanted her class to work on.

“… she is now working above the expected level for her age group, and has been moved up twice in class over the last few months”

What we especially like to hear is that children enjoy using Smartick, and, according to Zoe, Georgina loves her maths sessions.

As for 4 year old Lydia, Zoe points out that she has also learnt new concepts, like recognising numbers up to 100, left and right, etc…

“I think it has definitely helped them with their understanding of numbers and mathematics problems”

Smartick is a great way to get your kids used to working stuff out independently”

Why not try it with your children and see how far they can go with maths when practising on a daily basis?
